![]() "Unfortunately our society does not always honor the grief people feel when they loose a beloved pet, through death. On a personal note, in 1986, I had a difficult time after the lengthy illness and death of my father. As a child I had experienced the trauma of loosing my horse and dog. Despite my medical training and knowledge as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, it did not prepare me for the grief. The answers society and traditional religion gave me, left me with more questions. The "death" of my beloved lab dog Psa (pronounced Pee-sah and stands for Poor Stay Animal) and the days that followed taught me something important to my healing and that is to listen to what I feel, and to pay attention to my dreams". |
